Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Hope Santa Will Bring

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week I will make a list of 10 books, authors or other bookish things surrounding a certain topic. Today, we’re talking about books we’re hoping to receive from Santa! Now, I don’t usually get books for Christmas, so this is more of a hypothetical list. Let’s get into it!

One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid // One True Loves sounds like an incredibly emotional read, and sometimes that’s exactly what I need. It’s a bit out of my reading comfort zone, which is why I haven’t bought it yet.

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood // I know, I should’ve read this already. But I haven’t. I don’t want to watch the show until I’ve read the book though so I need to get this one soon!

Darien: Empire of Salt (Empire of Salt #1) by C.F. Iggulden // ‘TWELVE FAMILIES. ONE THRONE. WELCOME TO THE EMPIRE OF SALT.’ That sounds a tad… familiar. But at the same time, it sounds really epic and I want to read it. I think I once read some historical fiction by Iggulden and really enjoyed it so I’m excited to read a fantasy one now.

Confession of a Buddhist Atheist by Stephen Batchelor // I have to admit that the main reason I want to read this is the title. It just calls to me?

The Color of Our Sky by Amita Trasi // This is a historical fiction novel set in India (and LA, I think) that centers around the friendship between two girls -one struggling to survive the human slave trade and the other on a mission to save her.

Red Sister (Book of the Ancestor #1) by Mark Lawrence // This sounds like an incredible epic fantasy read. I actually have one of his other books, Prince of Thorns,  that I haven’t read yet but heard is really dark and disturbing. I’ll have to get around to reading that soon, but this one sounds just so good!

Body Positive Power by Megan Jayne Crabbe // I love this woman’s instagram page. Honestly, she’s one of the people who helped me start my journey towards being body positive. I want to support her by buying her book, and I think I’ll get so much out of the book too.

Relish: My Life in the Kitchen by Lucy Knisley // This sounds like a really interesting graphic memoir! I love to cook and bake, which is an added plus here.

Traitor to the Throne (Rebel of the Sands #2) by Alwyn Hamilton // I really enjoyed the first book of the series, Rebel of the Sands, so I really want to continue. The only problem? I don’t own the second book. And I was lucky enough to meet Alwyn this summer at YALC, and she’s really the kindest person.

Tower of Thorns (Blackthorn & Grim #2) by Juliet Marillier // I loved the first book, Dreamer’s Pool, so much. Juliet Marillier is such a gifted writer! Obviously, I must continue the series. Again: I DON’T OWN THE BOOK. This is why I keep buying books, people.

There you have it! 10 books I hope Santa will bring -even though I know it won’t happen. Have you read any of these? Which books are you hoping to receive?
