Ten of the Most Anticipated Reads of 2018

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week I will make a list of 10 books, authors or other bookish things surrounding a certain topic. Today, we’re talking anticipated reads! I almost forgot it was Tuesday, to be honest. Christmas has left me confused… Anyway, let’s start!

Markswoman (Asiana #1) by Rati Mehrotra // January 23rd // I was sold after reading the first sentence of the synopsis. This book is about Kyra who is a Markswoman in the Order of Kali, a highly trained sisterhood of elite warriors armed with telepathic blades. SISTERHOOD? WARRIORS? TELEPATHIC BLADES? Yes, please.

Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha #1) by Tomi Adeyemi // March 6th // This is a YA fantasy story inspired by West-African mythology! Doesn’t that sound incredible? It says: ‘With the help of a rogue princess, Zélie must outwit and outrun the crown prince, who is hell-bent on eradicating magic for good.’ I actually have a sampler of this book, which I got at YALC. I’m going to read the sampler soon to see what I think so far!

Circe by Madeline Miller // April 10th // Who is surprised this is on my list? Absolutely NO ONE. I’ve been waiting for another Madeline Miller book for years

From Twinkle, with Love by Sandhya Menon // June 5th // Yay for another Sandhya Menon book! I loved When Dimple Met Rishi, and I couldn’t be more excited to read more of her work. This one is about aspiring filmmaker Twinkle and fellow film geek Sahil. Plus, look at that cover… Her covers are all so adorable and beautiful.

The Heart Forger (The Bone Witch #2) by Rin Chupeco // March 20th // This is definitely one of my most anticipated reads. I loved The Bone Witch so much, and I’m looking forward to discovering the rest of Tea’s journey. I’ll re-read the first book before moving on to the sequel though, because I’m a little hazy on the details.

Fat Girl on a Plane by Kelly Devos // June 5th // All I know is that this is about a fat girl whose biggest dream is to be a fashion designer. I don’t need to know any more than that. I’m hoping to read a really body positive and wonderful book!

Not the Girls You’re Looking For by Aminah Mae Safi // June 19th // First of all, what a gorgeous cover! I’m going to be honest and say I know next to nothing about this book, and I don’t care. I want to read it anyway.

All That I Can Fix by Crystal Chan // June 12th // So this is about a boy called Ronney who lives in Indiana. In his town, everyone knows Ronny and his family as ‘the mixed-race family with the dad who tried to kill himself, the pill-popping mom, and the genius kid sister’. There’s also something about someone who set animals from a zoo free and now there are tigers and such running around?

The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy (Guide #2) by Mackenzi Lee // October 2nd // I adored The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, and I can’t wait to read more of Mackenzi’s works. Especially when they’re from Felicity’s perspective.

I Was Born For This by Alice Oseman // January 11th // Alice Oseman surprised me this year with Radio Silence, which has now made its way into my all-time favorite books-list. I need to read more of her work. I watched a lot of her Book 3 Diaries on YouTube, and I can’t wait to see how it turned out!

There you go, 10 books I’m really excited to read in 2018!
Are you excited to pick these up? Which ones are you anticipating?

  1. Awesome blog! I’ve followed & I’m new here & would love if you checked out my blog, and followed if you liked what you read! Thanks so much! Rachel 😊❤️

  2. I cannot wait for Children of Blood and Bone. I’ve already preordered it, so you can tell I’m already very excited. I love the sound of Markswoman. I haven’t seen any early reviews for that one though. Have you? Great list, Jolien. I hope you enjoy all of these!

  3. Circe for sure! The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy is a must for me as well, because of Felicity 🙂 And I hope to get to The Bone Witch soon, because that sequel looks so good too!

  4. I *still* haven’t read Sandhya’s debut novel (though I do own it), but already I’m excited about this follow up! I’m guessing it’ll be adorable, and will say, BOTH books seem 100% like “me reads.” YAY for great 2018 reads!!
