The past weekend I participated in the #24in48 readathon, where the goal was to read for 24 hours in the 2 days. Let’s see how I did.
I definitely failed the readathon in terms of reading hours. I read 8 hours during the weekend. Which is pretty good relatively, but nowhere near the 24 hours I was supposed to read. However, in terms of what I read I’m really proud of myself.
I started the readathon by finishing my read of This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada. I had started reading this the day before, and I wanted to finish it before starting any other books. I finished this book in a matter of hours because it was really good. I read about 300 pages of this book to finish it, and gave it 4.5/5 stars.
Then I started I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman. I wanted to read this before going to YALC, and it was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. It was definitely an enjoyable read and I managed to finish it in only a couple of hours. But I didn’t love it as much as I was hoping to, and gave it 3.5/5 stars. This book added 400 pages to my reading total.
Then I read Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. I also wanted to read it before going to YALC, because I want to get my copy signed. This book gave me a lot to think about in regards to privilege, oppression, power, family, trauma… I loved that aspect of it. But I kind of hated the romance that was pushed in it. I gave it 4/5 stars, and it added 525 pages to my reading total.
So I only managed to read for about 8 hours. BUT I read 2.5 books, and 1225 pages! I’m really proud of that.
So that’s what I read! Did you participate? What did you end up reading?
