Last year, I was fortunate enough to go to YALC, the YA Lit Con in London. I’m so happy to say I will be going again this year! I’m taking it much slower this year and haven’t planned to visit as many signings and panels as I did last year. I don’t want it to be a stressful experience, but a wonderful and relaxed one. That being said, there are still some books I really want to get signed.
So which ones am I taking with me to get signed?
I Was Born for This and Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. I adored Radio Silence, it’s one of my favorite contemporary books ever. I just read IWBFT during the #24in48 readathon and liked it just fine. Alice is signing of Friday, and she is one of my priority authors of the weekend.
Traitor to the Throne and Hero at the Fall by Alwyn Hamilton. I read Rebel of the Sands, the first book in the trilogy, last year before I went to YALC and got it signed. Alwyn was such a nice person, so I’m hoping to meet her again this year and get the second and third book signed too. I’ve read both this month, and quite enjoyed them (the second book is my favorite one). Alwyn is also signing on Friday.
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. Tomi is signing on Saturday, and I really need to get my copy of this book signed. It’s one of my all-time favorite covers too, and a signature on the inside would make it even better. I also read this during the 24 in 48 readathon last weekend and really enjoyed it! Ended up giving it 4/5 stars.
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and A Close and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers. Becky is signing on Saturday too, and I need to get my copies signed. I read these a few months ago and fell in love with her writing and the world and characters she created. I’m actually planning on buying the third book (which will have been released like 2 days before the signing) and get that one signed too.
The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon. I haven’t read this one yet, but I have read and adored the first book, The Bone Season. I got that one signed last year so I’m hoping to get my sequel signed too. I’m kind of scared not having read it yet, but I’m sure I won’t be the only one and that she won’t mind. Samantha is signing on Saturday so I think there will be a fairly long queue.
How Hard Can Love Be? by Holly Bourne. I also met Holly Bourne last year and got my copy of Am I Normal Yet? the first book in this series signed. She was honestly the kindest person ever. I just read the sequel, How Hard Can Love Be, and need to get it signed. She’s signing on Sunday. She’s actually also signing on Saturday I think, but then there are always more people than on Sunday so I’ve decided to wait until Sunday.
That’s it! Those are the books I’m planning on taking with me to YALC. I might buy a few books there, although I’m not planning to. I’m trying to save some money lately and I won’t buy as many as I did last year. Are you going? Have you read any of these books?
