Anticipated releases for the rest of 2018 | #T5W

I’m talking about 5 books that will be released in the coming months in this freebie Top 5 Wednesday topic today. Let’s take a look at the books!

Darius the Great Is Not Okay by Adib Khorram // August 28 // “Darius Kellner speaks better Klingon than Farsi, and he knows more about Hobbit social cues than Persian ones. He’s about to take his first-ever trip to Iran, and it’s pretty overwhelming–especially when he’s also dealing with clinical depression, a disapproving dad, and a chronically anemic social life.” This sounds so interesting!

Empress of All Seasons by Emiko Jean // November 6 // A competition is held to find the next empress, and all you have to do is survive the palace’s enchanted seasonal rooms -and marry the prince. The main character is a yōkai. She’s a supernatural person with the ability to transform into a terrifying monster. She’s participating in the competition, even though yōkai are not allowed to compete.

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan // November 6 // “Each year, eight beautiful girls are chosen as Paper Girls to serve the king. It’s the highest honor they could hope for…and the most cruel. But this year, there’s a ninth girl. And instead of paper, she’s made of fire.”  I think this is also an LGBT+ fantasy? YES!

The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White // September 25 // This is about Elizabeth who was given to the Frankenstein family, and who tries to survive while managing Victor Frankenstein’s temper and whims.

The Sisters of the Winter Wood by Rena Rossner // September 25 // This is the story of two sisters who grew up in a small village surrounded by the forest. They’ve lived a peaceful life, even if they’ve heard of troubling times for Jews elsewhere. It’s fantasy or magical realism about two sisters which sounds perfect to me.
